Texas Weather Alert: Strong Winds and 74°F Heat Expected in Amarillo This Weekend

Texas’s Amarillo March will begin warm and windy for locals, with highs of 74 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday. The rising temperatures will be accompanied by strong gusts, making driving and outdoor activities dangerous.

The National Weather Service predicts that Friday will be sunny with a high temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit, although early morning wind chills could make it feel colder. There will be gusts of up to 20 mph and winds between 5 and 15 mph. With a high of 68 degrees Fahrenheit and east-southeast winds of up to 15 mph, Saturday will continue the warming trend.

The sky will be partly cloudy on Saturday night, with lows of about 40 degrees Fahrenheit and gusts of up to 20 miles per hour. Sunday’s high is predicted to be close to 67 degrees Fahrenheit, with a minor chance of showers. In the afternoon, winds will veer westward, perhaps reaching gusts of up to 30 mph, after shifting from the south at 15 to 20 mph.

Although Monday is predicted to be the warmest day, with temperatures reaching 74 degrees Fahrenheit, strong west-southwest gusts of up to 25 miles per hour may make traveling on I-40 and other roads challenging. Under partly cloudy sky, nighttime lows will drop to 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is a remote possibility of showers on Tuesday, which will be followed by intermittent blowing dust and more wind. Temperatures will marginally decrease on Wednesday, peaking at 57 degrees Fahrenheit.

Because severe winds can affect vision and travel safety, drivers and outdoor lovers should exercise caution. Before you leave, stay informed on the most recent weather alerts.
