DULLES, Virginia. Before she boarded a trip to London, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found over 71 pounds of marijuana in a Texas woman’s suitcase, leading to her arrest at Dulles International Airport.
On the evening of November 22, CBP officials were checking luggage when they discovered two suitcases filled with big, vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana. Du Li Park, 30, of The Colony, Texas, was found to be the traveler in charge of the luggage.
Officers removed 60 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana totaling more than 71 pounds after escorting Park and her belongings to an inspection station. According to officials, the marijuana’s street worth in the US was $330,000, and depending on its potency, it might be two to three times more in London.
After being taken into custody by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, Park was accused of narcotics conspiracy, carrying a controlled substance into the Commonwealth, and felony possession with intent to distribute. CBP officials pointed out that federal law forbids the transportation of marijuana outside the nation or across state lines.
