Last month, Clearwater welcomed a new outdoor shopping experience – The Market Marie. The event is planned to occur each month on a Saturday.
May saw 55 vendors and food truck. The Market Marie will happen on June 12 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will be bursting with 68 vendors, three food trucks (so far) and a huge new mural.
The Market Marie pops up downtown on the corner of Court Street and Myrtle Street, where you can expect to see a number of tents, bursting with a wide variety of vendors selling art, clothing, food, plants, candles, flowers, and so much more. Free parking is located at 640 Pierce St, near the market’s entrance.
Blair Valentine came up with the idea for The Market Marie. She decided to name the market after her maternal grandmother’s middle name – Marie – and explained, “My grandparents on both sides are hard-working and ran their own businesses, which inspired me to do the same. I wanted a feminine name and loved the way ‘Market Marie’ sounded together!”
Valentine can be found at the turquoise tent information booth at the front of the market fronting Franklin Street. This booth will be for people who are wanting to become vendors or who want to know all of the market dates.
When asked how difficult it is to fit all those vendors into the space, Valentine said, “It is truly a jigsaw puzzle. We are growing at a great rate and have so many vendors interested that I have had to already put people on a waiting list! In addition to all of those vendors and food trucks, we will have an artist doing a lot of painting at this event as well which hopefully draws in a crowd.”
