Three Men Face Charges After Cannabis Seizure in Long Island City

Queens, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the charging of Cesar Egas Nagua, Michel Garcia Rodriguez, and Alain Prieto Romero with criminal possession of cannabis. This follows a search warrant that led to the discovery of more than 850 pounds of cannabis flower in a Long Island City apartment.

The district attorney highlighted that a wellness check call initially led police officers to the large cannabis seizure. All three individuals involved now face felony possession charges as the investigation continues. District Attorney Katz emphasized the risk posed by unregulated cannabis products to the community.

Egas Nagua, 34, from Brentwood, alongside Garcia Rodriguez, 25, and Prieto Romero, 23, both from Long Island City, were arraigned on Tuesday night on first-degree cannabis possession charges. Judge Jerry Iannece has scheduled their next court appearance for January 16, 2025.

According to the charges, police responded to a 911 call on November 4 at around 5:30 p.m. regarding an alleged knife assault in a Long Island City apartment. Upon entry, officers discovered multiple large plastic bags of cannabis in two bedrooms, prompting them to secure a search warrant.
