In Alto, Wisconsin, a three-year-old boy went missing after wandering across a 100-acre cornfield on his own at night. Thermal drone footage depicts the rescue operation.
Around 8:45 p.m. on August 25, the boy’s parents called the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies to come to get him after he had run away into the large 6-foot-tall cornfield behind their house. A thermal drone was sent to the location to assist in the search by the deputies due to the darkness.
The film opens with the drone taking in the vast expanse of the cornfield, which is populated by corn stalks that are six feet tall. The rows of maize take on a textured black-and-white appearance in the infrared image.
Around 9:30 p.m., a brilliant white object can be seen moving across the corn, adding some variety to the otherwise monotonous pattern in the picture. The little one!
Deputies were able to direct their rescue operations to a particular area of the cornfield after noticing this heat signature.
A deputy from Fond du Lac County and firefighters from Alto are seen continuing to respond to the site in the film. As they make their way through the cornfield toward the youngster, the rescuers—who also seem like white objects in the footage—can be seen.
Around fifteen minutes later, they all gather around the child.
The child was subsequently removed from the maize field and conveyed back to his parents.
Approximately half a mile from his residence, the youngster was discovered, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
