Toms River man arrested after dropping gun in church, falsely claiming to be police officer




NJ’s Point Pleasant Beach After reportedly dropping a pistol inside a church and posing as a law enforcement official, a guy from Toms River was taken into custody on Sunday morning, according to authorities.

According to authorities, Randolph Tashman, 60, was arrested by Point Pleasant Beach police and is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River while he awaits a detention hearing.

According to authorities, a man’s weapon dropped out of his pocket, prompting officers to be dispatched to the unnamed church at 9:53 a.m. Before police arrived, Tashman was led outside by church security, according to officials.

According to police, Tashman claimed to be a law enforcement official, but investigations found that he lacked a valid guns identity card, had no such credentials, and did not own the firearm.

According to authorities, Tashman is accused of impersonating a law enforcement official and unlawfully possessing a weapon.
