Traffic stop in Northeast D.C. leads to recovery of stolen firearm and ammo


WASHINGTON, D.C. — A routine stop of an idling vehicle in a no-standing zone led to a significant firearm recovery in Northeast D.C. on Monday. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Robbery Suppression Unit (RSU) found a stolen semi-automatic firearm and 22 rounds of ammunition during the stop in the 5800 block of Field Place, NE.

A suspect was taken into custody following the discovery. The MPD continues its efforts to combat illegal firearm possession and offers a reward of up to $2,500 for information related to illegal firearms.
