Truck Stuck Under Bridge Removed, Road Reopened in Stafford

Stafford, Virginia. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that a stranded truck that was obstructing the intersection of Andrew Chapel route and Brooke Road had been removed, and the route had been reopened.

The car had been stationary for hours when a tow truck arrived on the scene to remove it. No injuries were recorded, and no additional information regarding the incident’s cause was made public.

On Wednesday, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said that an Allentown man has been charged in relation to a gunshot incident that occurred in the afternoon of New Year’s Eve.

Two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose were all brought against 52-year-old Daniel Williams. The child’s being in the house at the time of the gunshot is what led to the Endangering charge.

Members of the Allentown Police Department and other law enforcement organizations arrived at Johnson Drive at around 12:51 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in response to a report of a victim who had been shot.

Officers found a female victim with a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound when they arrived. For medical attention, the victim was brought to a nearby hospital.

Williams was found to be the shooter after an investigation by the Allentown Police Department and the Major Crimes Bureau of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Later that night, Williams was captured and sent to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where he is being detained until he appears in Monmouth County Superior Court for the first time.

Traffic was delayed earlier in the day as a result of the event, which the Sheriff’s Office sarcastically compared to the famous scene from A Christmas Story where a boy’s tongue becomes attached to a flagpole.

Now that the intersection is completely functional, regular traffic flow has returned.
