ATF is warned by the Trump administration after failing to fire a DEI-related employee.
Washington This week, the Trump administration sent out a memo alerting federal agencies—including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)—about the need to adhere to presidential orders that terminate all DEIA posts and programs. The action follows ATF’s decision to reassign Lisa T. Boykin, its former Chief Diversity Officer, rather than fire her as necessary.
There have been claims that the agency is evading the presidential order since Boykin, who formerly oversaw the agency’s diversity initiatives, was moved to a newly established post, Senior presidential. All federal agency employees received the memo, which detailed procedures for closing DEIA offices and threatened repercussions for those who did not disclose efforts to conceal DEIA-related positions or contracts.
According to the memo, we are following President Trump’s executive orders by closing all agency DEIA offices and terminating all DEIA-related contracts. These policies led to humiliating discrimination, squandered taxpayer resources, and created racial division among Americans. In order to hide the relationship between the contract and DEIA or similar beliefs, it also directed staff members to report any changes to personnel or contract descriptions within ten days.
It is unclear whether Boykin’s reassignment complies with the administration’s instruction because, as of Thursday evening, she was still listed on the ATF website as an executive leader. According to the document, there would be negative repercussions if the presidential directives were not completely implemented or the reporting criteria were not met.
Requests for comment regarding Boykin’s status and the circumstances surrounding her reassignment have not received a response from ATF.
