Two arrested in large-scale marijuana cultivation operation in Cuba, New York

Buffalo, New York. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross said Thursday that two Cuba, New York, residents had been arrested and charged with producing and having more than 100 marijuana plants with the intention of distributing them. A mandatory minimum term of five years in jail, with a maximum of forty years, and a fine of $5 million are associated with the charges.

After law police looked into a possible large-scale marijuana cultivation operation, Daniel S. Ackerman, 58, and Ana L. Maldonado-Delgado, 31 were arrested. When police carried out a search warrant at the defendants’ Farnsworth Road home on October 10, 2024, they found a wealth of evidence of narcotics production and distribution.

Investigators found a 9mm handgun, probable psilocybin mushrooms, two mobile phones, a considerable amount of processed marijuana, 10 glass jars of liquid concentrated cannabis, 475 growing marijuana plants, 124 dried marijuana plants, and drug paraphernalia during the search. According to law officials, the enterprise was planned for the cultivation and distribution of marijuana on a big scale.

The Cuba Police Department, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, the Olean Police Department, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration were all involved in the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna Duncan.

Maldonado-Delgado and Ackerman are still being held pending additional proceedings. Both defendants are assumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court, and a criminal complaint is only an accusation.
