Two arrested, one suspect still sought in Woodbridge McDonald’s attempted armed robbery

Woodbridge, Virginia. In relation to an attempted armed robbery that took place at a McDonald’s on Harbor Drive in September, the Prince William County Police Department has detained two suspects and is still looking for a third man.

In relation to the Sept. 24 incident, Timothy Damont Rutherford, 18, and a male juvenile, 17, were taken into custody between Nov. 8 and Nov. 18. They are both accused of attempting to rob someone. Troy Allen Phillips Jr., a 21-year-old Woodbridge resident, is the third suspect that police are currently looking for.

At around 5:18 p.m. on September 24, officers arrived at the McDonald’s located at 12730 Harbor Drive to look into a possible assault. According to the police, a verbal fight between a group of males and a 25-year-old lady escalated when she was hit and scratched.

One suspect implied he had a gun when the suspects returned to the restaurant shortly after and tried to take the woman’s purse. The suspects fled the scene before the police came, but the victim managed to keep her purse and break away from them. There were reports of minor injuries.

Rutherford is still being held; he does not have a set address. The 17-year-old suspect is being housed at a juvenile jail facility; his identity is being kept secret because of his age. Both suspects have pending court dates.

Phillips is wanted for attempting robbery and is still at large. According to the description, he is a Black man who is about 5′ 7″, weighs 140 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair. In an attempt to find Phillips, police made public a September 2024 photo of him.

It is recommended that anyone with information regarding Phillips’ whereabouts call Crime Solvers at 703-792-5123 or the Prince William County Police Department.
