ELKTON, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and two others injured early Saturday morning in Cecil County, authorities confirmed. The incident unfolded in the area near Elkton and has prompted a major response from state police and homicide investigators.
One of the deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Tamir Rasheek Davis of New Castle, Delaware. Davis was transported to Christianna Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff. The identity of the second deceased individual has not yet been confirmed, pending notification of next of kin. Both victims’ exact causes of death are awaiting the results of autopsies.
Two additional individuals who were injured in the shooting are currently receiving medical treatment at local hospitals. One victim is being treated at Union Hospital in Elkton, while the other remains at Christianna Hospital. Their names have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.
The shooting came to the attention of authorities when Maryland State Police from the North East Barrack received a report shortly after 6 a.m. on Saturday of a man lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, troopers discovered evidence of a shooting and called in investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit to lead the case.
Additional support is being provided by the Criminal Enforcement Division, Northern Region, as police work to piece together the events leading to the violence.
