Two men arrested in connection with separate Atlantic City shootings

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Two men have been arrested in connection with separate shooting incidents that occurred on the same day, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.

The first shooting took place on October 12 at 3:16 a.m., when a man suffering from a gunshot wound approached an officer outside the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building. The victim collapsed, and officers provided medical aid before he was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives identified Rockwell Pohlig, 34, of West Deptford, N.J., as the suspect in the shooting, which stemmed from an argument between Pohlig and the victim on South Morris Avenue. Pohlig later turned himself in at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The second shooting occurred the same day at 7:10 p.m. on Caspian Avenue, where officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Melton, who had an active warrant, was arrested on October 16 by Officers Michael Regalbuto and William Harned after he attempted to provide false information. He faces multiple charges related to the shooting.

Pohlig is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. Melton faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension.
