Two men dead after apparent shootout in District Heights parking lot




Maryland’s District Heights.Two individuals were killed in a shooting that occurred in Prince George’s County on Friday night. Investigators think the shooting was a reciprocal exchange of gunfire.

At at 9:25 p.m., officers were called to a shooting in the unincorporated District Heights neighborhood in the 6200 block of Surrey Square Lane. When they arrived, they discovered two people from Washington, D.C., Vernon Bond III, 24, and Jonathan Jamal Williams, 28, both with gunshot wounds in a parking lot.

Shortly after authorities arrived on the site, emergency responders declared both individuals dead, according to police.

A preliminary investigation by the Prince George’s County Police Department suggests that the two individuals, who were acquainted, engaged in firearms during a confrontation.

As investigators attempt to piece together the events leading up to the deadly encounter, the investigation is still underway.
