Trenton, New Jersey. Even though nobody won the New Year’s Day Powerball jackpot, two New Jersey players celebrated big victories after winning $150,000 and $50,000 in the Jan. 1 drawing.
The jackpot was increased to $150,000 after a ticket from Quick Check #174, located at 370 North Ave East in Cranford, Union County, matched four white balls and the Powerball. It also featured the Power Play multiplier. The Nutley Newsstand, located at 251 Franklin Ave. in Nutley, Essex County, sold another winning ticket valued at $50,000.
The drawing’s winning numbers were 06, 12, 28, 35, and 66; the Powerball number was 26. 3X was the Power Play multiplier. The Powerball jackpot now stands at an estimated $200 million, with a cash value of $90.7 million, for the next drawing on Saturday, despite the fact that no ticket matched all six numbers.
Players that took part in the Double Play option, which is an extra drawing for a $10 million cash prize, did not see a jackpot winner in addition to the main drawing. The Double Play Powerball number was 20, and the Double Play numbers that were drawn were 08, 10, 25, 33, and 66.
Powerball draws take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
