Baltimore, MarylandAs officers from the Northwest and Western Districts attempt to piece together the events surrounding the shootings, Baltimore police are looking into two different gunshots that occurred on Sunday and left one man dead and another injured.
In the first instance, at around 9:29 a.m., Northwest District officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Bowers Avenue in order to look into allegations of a potential gunshot. When they arrived, they discovered a 23-year-old guy with a left thigh gunshot wound. After being taken to a nearby hospital, the victim’s status is still stable. At the scene, police found a pistol and arrested a person of interest. The inquiry has been taken over by Northwest District detectives.
Around 3:28 a.m., the city’s ShotSpotter system notified Western District officers of gunfire in the 2200 block of North Monroe Street. Officers were notified shortly after that a shooting victim had entered a nearby hospital to obtain treatment. Upon reaching the hospital, they discovered a 30-year-old male who had been shot. Shortly after arriving, the victim was declared dead despite efforts to revive him.
Prior to the person being transported to the hospital, police think the incident took place on North Monroe Street. The inquiry into the fatal occurrence is being led by the homicide unit of the Western District.
