UTICA, N.Y.After trying to elude a police stop on Huntington Street close to Spring Street on Tuesday night, two individuals were taken into custody. During the pursuit, cops found two loaded weapons, according to authorities.
At around 9:45 p.m., investigators from the Crime Prevention Unit and the GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) Unit apprehended a group of four people in relation to recent gun violence events. Two of the men in the group escaped on foot as authorities drew closer, sparking a pursuit.
On Court Street close to Sunset Avenue, one suspect, 18-year-old Raymond Emery, was taken into custody. Police found a loaded pistol in his possession while he was being held. The 23-year-old second suspect, Jaheim Bowman, was captured nearby. Officers found a loaded 9mm handgun abandoned along Bowman’s flight path utilizing thermal imaging equipment and a K-9 explosives/firearms detection unit.
After being taken to the Utica Police Department, the two suspects were accused of many weapons charges, obstruction, and driving infractions:

Police attributed the quick discovery of the abandoned weapon to the K-9 unit and the deployment of specialist technology, such as thermal imaging. As investigators continue their efforts to combat gun violence in the area, both individuals and firearms are currently in custody.
