Utah Freeze Warning Issued: Protect Plants as Temps Dip to Low Teens

Salt Lake City, UT – A freeze warning has been issued for Utah as cold temperatures are expected to hit early Thursday morning. Areas in lower Washington County, including St. George and Zion National Park, may see lows near 32°F. Authorities are urging residents to protect plants and outdoor property.

According to the National Weather Service, other valleys in the state will experience more severe cold. High-elevation valleys, including the Wasatch Back area, could see temperatures drop into the low teens and even single digits.

The freeze warning, in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, highlights the risk to agriculture and vulnerable plants. Residents with outdoor plumbing or irrigation systems are advised to take precautionary measures.

Low temperatures could damage crops, gardens, and exposed outdoor assets. The National Weather Service recommends covering sensitive vegetation and disconnecting garden hoses. Residents in affected areas are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and prepare accordingly as winter’s chill settles in across Utah.
