A Provo woman has been booked into the Utah County Jail for the investigation of 76 felony offenses that pertain to the sexual abuse of her 10-year-old daughter. The mother was allegedly paid by a male on multiple occasions to sexually abuse the girl, according to the police.
Wednesday marked the 38-year-old woman’s detention for the purpose of conducting an investigation into 42 counts of human trafficking of a child, 30 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and two counts of sodomy on a child.
According to a police booking affidavit, the investigation commenced on Wednesday when Provo police received a report that a woman was uploading videos to Kik of herself sexually abusing her young daughter. The woman was identified by the detectives, and a search warrant was executed at her residence.
The woman allegedly confessed to sending a male sexually explicit videos of herself and the young girl when she was questioned by the police.
“(She) stated that he coerces her into doing so and threatens her by stating, ‘He will do what he must.'” (The woman) asserted that he has never issued any explicit threats. According to the affidavit, “(She) informed me that she has been capturing images and videos of the victim for years for (the man).” “(The woman) expressed her desire for positive attention from an individual who did not engage in bullying.”
According to the affidavit, the Provo woman acknowledged that she had encountered the man in person on numerous occasions over the past five or six years. Each time, the man would sexually assault the girl. The woman informed the police that the man would “also purchase gifts and treats for the victim in exchange for sexual acts.” Additionally, she stated that he would occasionally provide her with additional compensation to ensure that she could secure hotel accommodations for them.
The affidavit states that the woman claimed the last time the girl was sexually abused by the man was on Tuesday in a Springville hotel. The mother was “sitting on a bench seat in the hotel room watching all of this.” The man allegedly provided the woman with a laptop and $125 as compensation for allowing him to abuse the child.
“The woman reported that the buyer paid cash on one occasion, and there were a total of 41 transactions between the two,” according to the police.
As of Thursday, the investigation into the individual who is accused of paying for the girl’s abuse was still ongoing.
