UTICA, N.Y.After reportedly robbing a convenience store late Sunday night at gunpoint, a guy from Utica has been taken into custody and prosecuted, according to authorities.
On November 24, at around 11:05 p.m., officers were called to the store located on the 900 block of Albany Street after receiving allegations of an armed robbery. Employees at the store reported that a male suspect came in, demanded money, and displayed a weapon. He took money and other belongings with him.
Police were informed by store staff that they thought the suspect was a local resident. Officers located the suspect at his home using this information and security footage, and he was held there while they secured a search warrant.
According to authorities, a loaded 9mm handgun and the pilfered money were found during the search of the house. The suspect, Ulysses Taylor, 46, was taken into custody and charged with a number of crimes, including criminal possession of a firearm, second- and third-degree illegal possession of a weapon, and first-degree robbery.
Police have not yet disclosed any new information about the inquiry, which is still underway.
