Washington, D.C.D.C. police said Wednesday that they had detained and charged a man in relation to a violent break-in and attempted sexual assault that occurred at a residence in Northwest Washington earlier this week.
On Saturday, June 14, shortly after midnight, an incident took place in the 1200 block of 11th Street NW. According to investigators, the suspect broke into an occupied house and attacked a victim while trying to perform a forced sexual act. Before the police arrived, he left the site.
Makel McGrier, 32, of Northeast D.C., was taken into custody on Wednesday, June 18, after an investigation, in accordance with a D.C. Superior Court warrant.
Burglary One, Assault with Intent to Commit First-Degree Sexual Abuse, and Third-Degree Sex Abuse are among the other counts against McGrier.
Police make arrest in violent home invasion
No other information regarding the suspect’s identification or whether he and the victim were acquainted has been made public by the authorities. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
