Virginia Beach officers deployed to Washington, D.C. for presidential inauguration

Virginia Beach, Virginia.In anticipation of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department have left to join hundreds of law enforcement and military personnel in Washington, D.C.

The department said on Sunday that the Washington Metropolitan Police Department had requested its personnel over a year ago to help with security for the 2025 inaugural ceremonies. Four years ago, during President Biden’s inauguration, VBPD provided resources.

During the high-profile event, over 25,000 law enforcement and military personnel from across the nation will collaborate to guarantee the protection of spectators.

Every four years, we are honored to participate in this significant aspect of our country’s democracy and to stand side by side with thousands of other committed law enforcement officers, the department said.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Virginia Beach officers will continue to serve in the nation’s capital.
