President Trump’s recent comments about Virginia Giuffre, who accused Jeffrey Epstein of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager, infuriated her family in a statement released Wednesday night. The statement confirmed an account that Mr. Epstein had hired her away from her job at the spa at Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s private club in Florida.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said that Ms. Giuffre was taken from Mar-a-Lago by Mr. Epstein when she was employed there as a spa assistant. Mr. Trump’s remarks on Air Force One seemed to be the first time he had directly verified Ms. Giuffre’s long-standing claim that Ghislaine Maxwell, Mr. Epstein’s longstanding associate, met her at the club and asked her to be his masseuse.
According to Ms. Giuffre’s family statement, Mr. Trump’s comments sparked doubts about his awareness of the crimes Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell committed. Ms. Giuffre committed herself in April. Due to her abuse and exploitation of minors, Ms. Maxwell is presently serving a 20-year prison sentence. While facing identical allegations, Mr. Epstein passed away in prison.
According to the family, it was startling to hear President Trump mention our sister and admit that he knew Virginia had been taken from Mar-a-Lago. Given his admission two years later that his good friend Jeffrey definitely prefers younger women, it begs the question of whether he was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s illegal behavior. The public and we are demanding answers because survivors are entitled to them.
The family’s statement was released a few days after Ms. Maxwell and her attorney met with former Mr. Trump defense attorney and deputy attorney general Todd Blanche to find out what she knew about the matter. In the midst of a flurry of criticism from some of Mr. Trump’s supporters who have been putting pressure on the president to provide more details regarding the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Epstein, the Justice Department’s top official met with a convicted sex trafficker in an extraordinary meeting.
The meeting was challenged by Ms. Giuffre’s family, who cautioned that Ms. Maxwell has a lengthy history of lying about the case.
The fact that the government is listening to a known perjurer is what our sister would be most upset about, they continued, if she could speak today. A lady who has lied under oath on multiple occasions and will do so as long as it helps her career.
In his comments on Air Force One, Mr. Trump expanded on his assertion from the previous day that he had banned Mr. Epstein from Mar-a-Lago due to the fact that he had fired some of his staff.According to former White House aides, Mr. Trump expelled Mr. Epstein from the club because he was a creep.
