Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia Brace for Snowfall Starting Wednesday Morning

Richmond, Virginia For a number of Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia counties, a winter weather advisory has been issued. Snowfall is predicted to make travel dangerous starting Wednesday morning.

In places like Albemarle, Nelson, Augusta, and the Central Virginia Blue Ridge, snowfall is expected to start as early as 7 a.m. and accumulate between 2 and 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Additional counties covered by the advisory include Stafford, King George, and Spotsylvania, where by late Wednesday evening, snowfall could amount to up to three inches.

From 1 p.m. on Wednesday to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Maryland’s Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties are under a winter weather advisory; snowfall might cause problems for evening commutes. Similar accumulations are anticipated in West Virginia’s Western Highland and Western Pendleton counties, where slick roads are predicted to last until Thursday morning.

Roads might get icy, especially around rush hour, so officials advise drivers to exercise caution. It is recommended that travelers verify road conditions by calling 511 and give themselves more time to get there.
