Vivek Ramaswamy Says DOGE Plan For Gov’t Employees Has Bureaucrats ‘In Tears’

Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said on Monday that union officials are in tears over the campaign to demand government employees to return to the office full-time.

Through the newly established DOGE, President-elect Donald Trump selected Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to reduce unnecessary regulations, save unnecessary spending, and reorganize Federal Agencies. Ramaswamy is now aiming to curb government telework by proposing that employees must be present in the workplace during the entire workweek.

According to supporters, federal government unions are frantically updating their collective bargaining agreements in order to keep their jobs. On Monday, Ramaswamy wrote on X. They seem to be crying at the thought of being asked to come into work five days a week, like the majority of working Americans.

In a July 2023 report, the independent Government Accountability Office examined a three-week sample period in January, February, and March of 2023 and found that 17 of the 24 federal agencies utilized an estimated average of 25% or less of their headquarters buildings. Not even the most productive agency utilized half of their office space.

With a May EPAlabor deal expanding safeguards for remote work, telework, and flexible work schedules, federal unions have moved to acquire telework covenants.

Last Tuesday, Democratic Mayor of D.C. Muriel Bowser told NBC that she had asked Trump to meet with her, partly to talk about the need for government workers to come back to work.

One major issue is how we can ensure that our federal workforce returns to work, Bowser told the outlet, adding to the Washington Post that we need partners who help restore downtown Washington’s vibrancy and what I like to refer to as the majesty of the federal government.
