Washington Flood Watch: Heavy Rain Threatens Grays Harbor and Lewis Counties Through Thursday

As significant rainfall continues to create fears about flooding, a flood watch is in effect through Thursday afternoon for Grays Harbor and Lewis counties in Seattle, Washington.

Heavy rain may result in substantial runoff, raising water levels in rivers, creeks, and flood-prone areas, according to the Seattle-based National Weather Service (NWS). Street and river flooding is a concern for cities including Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Chehalis, and Fords Prairie.

As conditions worsen, residents are asked to remain vigilant for possible flood warnings. Roadways, low-lying communities, and transportation could all be impacted by flooding, possibly leading to closures and detours.

People who live in flood-prone areas are advised by the NWS to have an evacuation plan in case of an emergency and to be ready for rising waters. Because water levels can rise quickly, drivers should never try to drive on flooded roads.
