Westport, Maryland. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office said that a Westernport lady is facing several charges after allegedly filing a fake report about a minor being held at gunpoint, which prompted a large police reaction on New Year’s Eve.
Ashley Nicole Miller, 41, reported that two people were holding a minor hostage inside a house, and deputies were sent to Front Street in Westernport, Maryland.
Along with tactical medics from the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services and negotiators from the Western Maryland Crisis Negotiations Team, the Allegany County Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.), which was made up of Cumberland police officers and sheriff’s deputies, was sent to the scene in response.
Authorities found Miller’s complaint to be untrue after a two-hour inquiry. Tri-Towns Ambulance treated her on the spot and took her to UPMC.
Miller is accused of reckless endangerment, providing a false statement to a police officer, and filing a fraudulent emergency report. When she is released from UPMC, an arrest warrant will be served to her.
