COBLESKILL, N.Y. New York State Police are resuming their investigation into the murder of Katherine Kolodziej fifty years after it occurred, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.

On the evening of November 2, 1974, Kolodziej, a student at the State University of New York at Cobleskill, was last saw departing the Vault Tavern on Main Street in Cobleskill. When she didn’t come back to their dorm that night, her roommate reported her missing.

Kolodziej’s body was found in a rural area off McDonald Road in Richmondville, some five miles from her last known whereabouts, on November 28, 1974, over four weeks later. Although no suspects have ever been named, authorities concluded that her death was a homicide.

The matter is still being investigated by SP Princetown and the State Police Troop G Major Crimes Unit. The goal of the investigators is still to identify the person or people who are at fault.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked by the police to phone 518-457-6811 or send an email to [email protected].
