An Alabama woman is facing charges in connection with her husband’s death, as she is alleged to have dismembered his body following the incident.
A 26-year-old woman named Joselina Elizabeth Lopez is facing murder charges in connection with the killing of Benito Morales Guzman. She is currently being held in the Geneva County Jail without bond, awaiting an Aniah’s Law hearing scheduled for next week.
An investigation was initiated after a co-worker of Guzman expressed concern about his absence and reached out to the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office.
The body of Guzman was found by sheriff’s investigators on Tuesday afternoon, located behind the couple’s residence on Grady Garner Road in Slocomb.
Sheriff Tony Helms enlisted the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation to aid in the investigation.
Helms confirmed that Guzman’s body was dismembered after his death in an attempt to conceal it. The details were not provided, and it was mentioned that an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of Guzman’s death.
The body of Guzman was discovered in a vehicle near his residence in the Fadette community on Tuesday morning.
According to insiders, WDHN has learned that Guzman was tragically beheaded and dismembered with a chainsaw, before being placed in the car.
According to reports, Guzman and Lopez were involved in a romantic relationship, as per sources.
Charging documents filed against Lopez Guzman’s death occurred sometime between Aug. 24 and Aug. 27.
