Wilkes-Barre Man Arrested for Strangulation and Assault Following Domestic Dispute

A domestic dispute on East Bennett Street in Wilkes-Barre escalated into a violent assault, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old man on the night of November 14th.

Police were dispatched to the residence around 9:42 PM after receiving a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, they were met by the victim, a 67-year-old man, who described a disturbing encounter. According to the victim, an argument with the defendant, Steven Himlin, turned physical. Himlin reportedly struck the victim multiple times in the face before choking him to the point of near unconsciousness.

Himlin fled the scene before officers arrived, prompting a search. However, authorities apprehended him later and transported him to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment.

The victim was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and is expected to recover. The incident remains under investigation as Himlin faces charges including strangulation and assault.
