Wilkes-Barre police investigating Uber driver threatened with firearm

WILKES-BARRE, PA: Wilkes-Barre police are looking into a case where a passenger allegedly threatened an Uber driver with a gun during a fight early on Thursday morning.

The victim, a 34-year-old Kingston, Pennsylvania male, approached police around 15 South Main Street at approximately 1:09 a.m. After picking up two male passengers in Kingston and taking them to a prearranged destination, he informed police that one of the passengers got into a fight with him and insisted on being dropped off somewhere else.

One of the passengers allegedly threatened the driver with physical violence and showed a gun in his waistband when the driver left the two guys off at another spot on West Chestnut Street. The driver called the police and ran away. Additionally, the victim reported that the suspect who brandished the firearm was donning a ski mask at the time of the event.

No one has been arrested, and the inquiry is still underway.
