Townsend, Delaware.Wendell Bowser, 42, of Wilmington, has been taken into custody by Delaware State Police in relation to several felony fraud-related offenses, including an earlier this month attempted theft involving a Townsend house.
On November 12, 2024, troopers received a complaint of an attempted house invasion in Townsend, which prompted the start of the investigation. Investigators found that Bowser had attempted to buy the home with a counterfeit bank document and a fraudulent check. Subsequent investigations connected Bowser to comparable fraud schemes in Virginia, North Carolina, and Delaware.
Bowser was taken into custody at the New Castle Probation and Parole Office on November 25. After being sent to Troop 2, he was accused of the following felonies:

- Forgery 1st Degree (2 counts)
- Attempted theft where the property value is $100,000 or more
- Issuing a bad check equal to or exceeding $1,500
- Falsifying business records (2 counts)
Bowser was released after posting a $44,000 secured bond following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2.
