Woman arrested for assaulting officer during shoplifting incident at Potomac Mills




Woodbridge, Virginia. Authorities said a woman from Washington, D.C., was detained Tuesday for allegedly attacking a police officer as a shoplifting investigation was underway at the North Face store in Potomac Mills Mall.

Officers arrived at the store, which is situated at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, to look into a suspected theft on November 19 at around 1:10 p.m. According to the police, Tahela Adonika Daley, 25, struck one of the policemen in an attempt to resist being taken into custody before being calmed down without any more problems.

Daley allegedly gave officers bogus identity during the arrest. She faced charges for assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to conduct a felony, giving false identification to law enforcement, and wearing masks in public after an investigation.

Daley, who resides in Washington, D.C. at 701 6th Street NW, is being held without bond. A court date has not yet been set.

There were no reported major injuries to the officer engaged in the event. The circumstances surrounding the alleged shoplifting are still being looked at by police.
