Woman dies after Oxon Hill shooting; two suspects charged in fatal dispute

Oxon Hill, Maryland.Police said Monday that two suspects are still being held on murder charges after a lady who was shot in Oxon Hill last week passed away from her wounds.

The suspects were identified by Prince George’s County Police as Alexandria, Virginia residents Carlas Carter, 37, and Mary Ashby, 26. They are charged with shooting and killing Tamara Jones, 26, of Washington, D.C., on November 26 during a fight.

Around 2:45 a.m. that day, officers arrived to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road and discovered Jones shot inside a car. Three days later, on November 29, she passed away from her wounds.

The shooting was the result of a dispute between the defendants and the victim, according to detectives. With assistance from the Alexandria City Police Department and the Fairfax County Police Department, Carter and Ashby were taken into custody in Virginia. They are still being held while they are being extradited to Maryland.
