Woman Shot by Munford Officer Following 10-Mile Hot Police Chase in Tennessee

A woman was shot by a Munford Police Officer following a pursuit on Highway 51 near Covington early Monday. According to officials, the woman allegedly refused to stop for the officer.

There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

TBI special agents arrived at Highway 51 and Hope Street at approximately 2:10 a.m. to investigate an incident involving a police officer. The investigation was initiated at the request of Mark Davidson, the 25th Judicial District Attorney General.

Reports indicate that the incident began when Munford Police tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver chose not to comply. A police chase was started.

The pursuit extended for a distance of 10 miles along Highway 51, eventually reaching Covington, where stop sticks were used. Following the driver’s stop, the TBI reports that a Munford officer approached the vehicle and fired at the female driver.

Afterward, the woman was transported to the hospital to receive medical care. No officers were reported injured.

The investigation is still active and ongoing, according to TBI.
