Woman struck and killed by car in Hazlet




Hazard, New Jersey.A female pedestrian was killed in a car accident near the intersection of Union Avenue and State Highway 36 on Sunday night, and authorities are looking into the incident.

At around 7:49 p.m. on December 8, a southbound car struck a person in the right lane of State Highway 36 close to the crossing, prompting Hazlet Township Police to arrive on the scene.

At 8:33 p.m., Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said the woman was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. The vehicle’s driver, a man, stayed on the site and is assisting investigators.

Investigations are underway to determine what caused the crash. The victim’s and driver’s identities have not yet been made public by authorities.
