Woodbridge man arrested in domestic dispute involving strangulation, firearm

Woodbridge, Virginia Following a domestic dispute at the Bayvue Apartments that turned violent and involved the displaying of a pistol, a 23-year-old male from Woodbridge was taken into custody on Friday, according to the police.

At 12:01 p.m. on December 1, officers were called to a domestic argument at the 14100 block of Fisher Avenue. According to the inquiry, the accused—Jamal Edwards Haskins—and a woman, age 23, had a verbal altercation that escalated into violence.

Haskins assaulted the woman, grabbed her throat, and brandished a gun throughout the altercation. Additionally, he physically stopped the victim from calling the police. When the parties parted ways, the altercation was over, but not before Haskins broke a television in the house.

After leaving the area, Haskins went back to the house, where he was safely taken into custody by police. According to officials, the victim received on-scene treatment for minor wounds.

Haskins was charged with domestic violence and battery, strangling, brandishing a firearm, obstructing the call of police authorities, and property destruction. He is being held without bond and has an upcoming court date.
