Crash Details: Bus Collides with Pontiac Sedan

Deputies from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of South Wind Lake Road and State Trunk Highway 36 at around 6:11 a.m. on November 26, 2024. Authorities said the school bus stopped at a stop sign at Highway 36 when it was heading west on South Wind Lake Road.

Then, a Pontiac car traveling south on Highway 36 blocked the driver’s path as he tried to cross the highway. Due to the collision between the bus and the automobile, the bus overturned into a tiny pond.

Driver Safely Escapes Without Injury

The driver was safely exiting the bus by the rear emergency escape when deputies arrived, and body-worn camera footage showed the bus crashed in the pond. The pond was only a few feet deep, limiting additional danger, and the sheriff’s office verified that the bus was not transporting any children at the time.

Thankfully, the pond was only a few feet deep, the driver was the only one on the school bus, and no kids were on board, according to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.

No Injuries Reported

No casualties were reported in spite of the crash’s severity. Neither the bus driver nor the other car in the collision suffered any injuries. Law enforcement’s prompt action made sure that no more injuries were caused by the incident.
