Goshen, New York After entering a guilty plea to second-degree burglary in Orange County Court last year, Yonkers resident Oscar Castillo was given a nine-year prison sentence on Monday. Castillo entered a guilty plea in February 2023, but failed to appear for sentence, which resulted in an arrest warrant.
Castillo was implicated in a burglary at a residence on Cardinal Drive in Washingtonville on November 18, 2017, according to court filings. The homeowner challenged the two guys who had broken into the residence, claiming that they were masked, carrying a shotgun, and posing as FBI agents. The homeowner was hurt in the ensuing violent altercation.
DNA evidence from a crime scene study by Washingtonville Police and the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center matched Castillo. New York State Parole assisted in Castillo’s arrest on July 2, 2021, in Westchester County.
