Union City man’s death ruled homicide, police investigate blunt force injuries




New Jersey’s Union City.The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office declared on Wednesday that the death of a 56-year-old man who was discovered unconscious behind a building on 23rd Street earlier this month had been determined to be a homicide.

On the morning of November 14, Union City police officers received a report of an unresponsive person behind the building and found Reynaldo Gonzalez dead. At the scene, Gonzalez was declared dead just after 11:30 a.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office categorized Gonzalez’s death as homicide on November 26 after concluding that complications from blunt force injuries were the cause of death. The case was formally taken over by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit after the report.

It’s still unclear what caused Gonzalez’s injuries and death, and detectives are collaborating with Union City police to find out more information.
