Utica police seize drugs and firearm after vehicle pursuit and search




UTICA, N.Y. Following a series of search warrants issued by the Utica Police Department, two people were arrested and a handgun and drugs were seized during a vehicle pursuit on Thursday.

As part of an investigation into the distribution of narcotics, the Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Patrol Division and UPD GIVE, attempted to stop a car at around 12:30 p.m. The driver, Tracy Harris, 60, of Utica, crashed into a power pole during the traffic stop, then got out of the car and tried to flee on foot.

When officers searched Harris, they found a significant amount of drugs and arrested him nearby. Officers then carried out a search warrant at 623 Blandina Street as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities found a lady inside the house who was identified as 39-year-old Stacy Gannon from Utica. Police found methamphetamine, fentanyl, a loaded 9mm handgun, and more felony-level drugs, including more than 50 grams of cocaine, during the search.

Both Harris and Gannon were arrested and are facing several counts pertaining to the possession and distribution of drugs as well as offenses involving firearms.
