Baltimore man arrested nearly a year after fatal shooting

Baltimore, Maryland After a nearly year-long investigation into the Central District killing, police have detained a suspect in the March 2024 gunshot death of 35-year-old Alvin Ray Henry Jr.

Investigators found that on March 2, 2024, during a fight in the 1400 block of East Biddle Street, Henry was shot and killed by Derrell Goines, 35, of Baltimore. After being informed by a ShotSpotter warning, responding cops found Henry with several gunshot wounds. After being taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, he was declared deceased.

Detectives using warrant apprehension found and apprehended Goines without incident at a residence in the 1100 block of West Northern Parkway on January 3. He was charged with first-degree murder after being taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility.

After months of inquiry, homicide investigators took up the case in March of last year and named Goines as the suspect.
