Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Bear


Bear, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Tuesday night in Bear. A man was killed in the incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Pulaski Highway.

According to reports, at around 8:48 p.m., a blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway, near Wellington Drive. A pedestrian entered the path of the Chevrolet and was struck by the vehicle.

The pedestrian, a 45-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.


The driver, a 22-year-old woman, and a 2-month-old passenger, both from Newark, Delaware, were in the Chevrolet and were not injured in the collision. The road remained closed for about three hours for investigation and cleanup. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is seeking information from any witnesses of the crash.
