Massive Indiana Drug Bust 'Operation Iceberg' Nets 25 Arrests and Meth Haul

“Operation Iceberg” was a months-long, massive drug investigation in Jefferson County that led to 25 arrests and the seizure of pounds of methamphetamine this week.

On Thursday, Prosecutor David Sutter made public the fact that numerous police agencies and hundreds of man-hours were devoted to the inquiry, which had begun in February. Authorities claimed to have seized pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine and made 25 arrests.

Police allegedly started looking into Christopher Dorten after they found out he was a big meth supplier in the county. Later, it was discovered by the authorities that Dorten had traveled to Louisville at least 65 times to buy meth and cocaine from Darren Richardson, also known as Anthony.

Five counts of dealing meth, one count of conspiracy to deal cocaine, and one count of conspiracy to deal with crystal meth were levied against Dorten following his arrest on August 15. Authorities say he is currently being held on a $500,000 full cash bond at the Jefferson County Jail.

The following day, in Louisville, Richardson was apprehended on criminal conspiracy charges related to the distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine, as per a warrant from Jefferson County. Accused of crimes in Kentucky, he is presently awaiting extradition to Indiana from Louisville Metro Corrections.

Michelle Childress was allegedly allowing Dorten to use her home to advance his narcotics enterprise, as discovered during the investigation. Possession of narcotics, conspiracy to sell meth and cocaine, and maintaining a common nuisance were among the nine criminal accusations that led to her arrest.

Dorton was identified as a supplier to numerous other Jefferson County narcotics dealers by authorities, who went on to apprehend 22 others. On Wednesday, September 11, the following individuals were apprehended by various law enforcement authorities, marking the end of “Operation Iceberg.”
