Caught on Camera: Philadelphia police search for suspects after crash in Port Richmond leaves driver critical

PHILADELPHIA – A dramatic crash early Friday morning in Port Richmond has left one man in critical condition, and police are now searching for at least four individuals seen fleeing the scene. The crash, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred at the intersection of Richmond and Venango streets when a black Dodge Ram pickup truck ran a red light and collided with a white Chevrolet truck.

The Chevrolet’s driver, a 40-year-old AutoZone employee, was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition, according to police. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles careening into several parked cars, causing significant damage to at least five vehicles in the neighborhood.

Authorities say four juveniles wearing ski masks and dark clothing exited the Dodge Ram following the crash. Three of them reportedly fled in a white SUV, with a neighbor managing to record the license plate number as “SJW 5802.” Police are still investigating whether the black pickup truck involved in the crash may have been stolen.

Residents of the area expressed concerns about speeding in their neighborhood, saying that traffic issues have worsened over the years. “It used to be so quiet around here because I’m here 40 years,” said one resident. “We have a sign that says 25 miles an hour… they raced down there.”
