An Open Letter to Jackson Parents

by Giuseppe Palmeri

As a fellow parent and proud member of this community, I know the hopes and concerns you have for your children’s future. We all want the best for our kids—a safe environment, a quality education, and a community where our families can thrive. As I finish my term as President of the Jackson Board of Education, I’m excited to bring my experience and passion to the next chapter: running for Jackson Township Council. Over the past three years, I’ve always tried to stand up for what’s right, even when the path wasn’t easy.

I’ve worked hard to:

• Fight for Fair Funding: Our schools deserve their fair share of state support, and I took that fight directly to Trenton. It’s unfair and there’s no reason why Jackson’s funding is being repurposed to districts like Newark or Lakewood.

• Fought to keep Rosenauer Elementary Open: When faced with the potential closure of this beloved school, I proudly voted against it and fought to find the funding to keep it open.

 • Stand Up for Parental Rights: I fought to exclude inappropriate curriculum from our classrooms and opposed state-enforced COVID mandates..

 • Prioritize School Safety: I’ve worked to secure additional resources for school security, ensuring that our kids can learn and grow in a safe environment.

 • Oppose Tax Increases: I’ve consistently voted against tax increases, advocating for a balanced approach that keeps our community’s needs in mind.

Throughout my time on the Board of Education, our efforts were often challenged and overridden by a Trenton-appointed monitor—something beyond our control. But this experience made one thing clear: Jackson needs a strong local government that can effectively advocate for our students and families.

We need leaders who will stand up to the state and fight for what our community deserves. I’m prepared and ready to fight for Jackson’s fair share as a member of the Jackson Township Council, ensuring that our community’s voice is heard at every level.

I’m asking for your support in this new role, along with my Column L running mates Councilmen Borrelli & Burnstein, because we believe in Jackson’s potential and in the strength of our families. Together, we can create a brighter future for our children and our town and ensure that Jackson remains a place where all of us can thrive. Thank you for your time, and I hope to earn your trust and your vote.

Sincerely,
