A former Toombs County teacher has been taken into custody on criminal charges following an investigation, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on Saturday.
GBI has reported that a 25-year-old woman named Chasity Cheyenne Knight from Uvalda has been arrested and charged with one count of Improper Sexual Contact by an Employee, Agent, or Foster Parent; Consent Not a Defense.
According to a press release from the GBI, it has been revealed that Knight engaged in a sexual relationship with a student in January, during their time as a teacher.
The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office has reached out to the GBI for assistance in investigating potential cases of sexual abuse involving a teacher and students within the Toombs County School District.
Knight was taken into custody and placed in the Toombs County Detention Center by the police.
