Four teens arrested in armed carjacking on Bethesda Avenue

BETHESDA, Md. — Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with an armed carjacking that took place on October 19 on Bethesda Avenue, Montgomery County Police announced.

The incident occurred around 9:21 p.m. when the teens, dressed in black and wearing face masks, approached a victim who was seated in their vehicle in the 4800 block of Bethesda Avenue. According to police, a 17-year-old suspect brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s car keys and other belongings. The victim complied, and the teens fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

An off-duty officer later spotted the vehicle on Wisconsin Avenue near Stanford Street and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects stopped but attempted to flee on foot. All four were apprehended in the area shortly afterward.

The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries while attempting to escape and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was later taken into custody on October 22 and also charged with armed carjacking and armed robbery before being transported to the Cheltenham Detention Center.
