Fugitive Alert: NYPD Seeks Suspect in Murder of Man in Stueben Park


BROOKLYN, NY — The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man near Steuben Park in Brooklyn. The victim, identified as Daniel Becerra Izarra, was found unresponsive with a stab wound to his abdomen on Tuesday morning, November 12, around 8:45 a.m., in the vicinity of Steuben Street and Flushing Avenue.

Emergency Medical Services transported Becerra Izarra to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

The NYPD has identified 23-year-old Lewis Aranguren as a person of interest in the investigation. Police have released multiple images of Aranguren to aid in the search, including photos taken at the scene and recent images showing his appearance with blonde hair, as well as a prior photo from approximately five months ago when he had black hair.

Anyone with information on Aranguren’s whereabouts is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online at the Crime Stoppers website or via social media at @NYPDTips. All communications are confidential.

The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide, as they work to locate Aranguren and bring closure to the family of Becerra Izarra.
