New Jersey Morning Commute: Areas to Avoid Today

NEWARK, N.J. — Morning commuters faced several disruptions on key New Jersey roadways Tuesday, with multiple incidents and delays reported as of 8:14 a.m.

A crash on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Hudson County Extension westbound, east of the Newark Bay Bridge in Newark, blocked the left lane. Meanwhile, on the George Washington Bridge’s upper level eastbound at the New Jersey side in Fort Lee, a separate crash blocked a center lane, contributing to delays.

In Tavistock, debris on I-295 southbound, south of Exit 31 at Woodcrest Station, closed the right lane. A crash on I-195 westbound near Exit 2 in Hamilton Township resulted in the closure of both shoulders.

Emergency construction due to a gas main break continued on US 9 in both directions between Cross Street and James Street in Lakewood Township, keeping all lanes closed since early morning.

The Garden State Parkway also saw heavy delays northbound, with traffic backed up for seven miles from the Colonia Service Area in Woodbridge Township to Exit 140 in Union Township. All lanes remained open in this area.
